DESCRIPTION:
The adult carpet beetle is small (about 1/8 inch
long), and has a varied color pattern. The larvae are about ¼

the sides and tail end. Irregular holes in carpets, blankets,

| BIOLOGY:
(Attagenus spp.) The larvae of carpet
beetles feed on products of animal origin, including wool, leather,
and fur. The larvae of some species feed on stored food. Adults
usually live outdoors and feed on the nectar and pollen of plants.
The larvae may require 2-3 months to complete development and
during this time may shed their skin several times. They may move
around the house seeking new feeding sites.
