House Centipede

DESCRIPTION:

This centipede is about 1 inch long and the body is yellowish gray with longitudinal dark stripes. The 15 pairs of legs are very long and the last pair are very long. The antennae are also long and extend out in front of the body.

BIOLOGY:

(Scutigera coleopterata) The house centipede usually lives outdoors and indoors, and in houses it occurs in damp locations such as basements and bathrooms where it preys on insects and spiders. There are several larval stages before reaching maturity. The adults and nymphs may be found together in harborages.
