This small (about ¼ inch long), gray colored fly
is characterized by having "hairy" wings so that it appears to
be a moth. They are commonly seen flying in bathrooms, and when
they land their wings are held roof-like over the abdomen.
BIOLOGY:
(Psychoda spp.) The immature stages of
moth flies live in the organic debris in drains, and in the debris
that collects around sinks and toilets. The lifecycle requires
about 30 days to complete and the adult flies may live about 3
weeks. The adults usually remain close to the larval breeding
site.
